“Launch Your Band” is an eclectic music competition, open to all genres of music, taking place in March 2009.

The music bands entered will compete to win a chance to record a professional demo, as well as professional musical equipment. The semi-finalists will perform in a Thursday meridian lunchtime on Jammie Plaza to a crowd of 2000 students. The competition will culminate in the top three bands playing along side two well known South African bands in a concert to announce the winner of the competition.

“Launch Your Band” is the newly independent RAG project, which comes from a hybrid project introduced into the RAG calendar three years ago as a marketing tool for the Kirstenbosch Summer Concert. “Launch your Band for Kirstenbosch Summer Concert” was a music competition in which the winner won the chance to be the opening act at the “Kirstenbosch Summer Concert”.
